About

Built to be my financial backbone. Yours, if you need the same.

Cache is a personal finance app made for cash-first life, low setup friction, and the messy edges most money apps treat as optional.

Why Cache

I didn’t set out to build a product. I set out to give myself a financial backbone.

Monetizing it is a bonus. The real win is an app I actually use.

Every feature in Cache exists because I needed it on my own journey — not to chase a feature count.

The story

Where Cache came from.

The name

Cache is a play on the computer idea: compute once, retrieve fast — money clarity that stays ready. In French, a cache is also a hiding place for money. Both meanings fit: keep what you’ve figured out close, and keep it yours.

Where it started

I built Cache in Madagascar, in a heavily cash-based economy. Most apps assumed a Chase-style bank account and treated live sync as the main path, with manual tracking as an afterthought. I needed the opposite: no bank sync, cash and mobile money as first-class.

The setup trap

I also have undiagnosed ADHD. Apps that demand a full setup before you can start create a wall. YNAB asks for a budget when I don’t even know what I spend yet — a chicken-and-egg problem. Cache is built to meet you where you are: track first, understand second, plan when you’re ready.

The edges that matter

A lot of my spending lives in items that aren’t neat bank categories — so I needed inventory and item-level tracking. As a young entrepreneur and former freelancer, correcting taxes after the fact was expensive. Structure that accounts for taxes wasn’t nice-to-have; it was the point.

Cash-first

Manual tracking is the product.

Not a side mode. Cash and mobile money belong in the picture from day one — no bank login required to start.

Low friction

Start without the ceremony.

No forced budget before you know your numbers. Lower friction for ADHD brains and anyone who’s quit setup-heavy apps.

Inventory

Item-level reality.

Inventory and categorization for the purchases that never show up cleanly on a statement.

Taxes

Obligations in the structure.

Set taxes aside as you go, not reconstructed in a panic later.

Dogfood

Features earned from daily use.

If I wouldn’t rely on it for my own backbone, it doesn’t ship as theatre.
